In which areas do you expect PostgreSQL to grow most, and how does your company contribute to and benefit from that growth?

PostgreSQL is growing most in four areas: legacy database migrations, cloud-native deployments, real-time analytics workloads, and the expansion of existing PostgreSQL estates as organisations scale horizontally and vertically.

CYBERTEC supports this growth through specialised tools and services. Our Migrator helps enterprises transition from Oracle and SQL Server. Scalefield enables cloud-native PostgreSQL with Kubernetes automation and high availability.

For analytics, tools like pgwatch and LakeHouse allow users to monitor and report within PostgreSQL, avoiding external systems. Altogether, our products and consulting services guide customers from initial adoption through to long-term optimisation.

How does PostgreSQL help you bring value to your customers?

PostgreSQL offers our customers freedom from restrictive licensing models and delivers the performance and scalability needed for modern applications. Our clients use PostgreSQL to power online transaction systems, analytical dashboards, geographic information systems, and internal management tools.

CYBERTEC’s role is to help these customers implement PostgreSQL with production-grade reliability, while minimizing downtime and performance risks.

Our products and consulting services address monitoring, performance tuning, failover management, and long-term operational support.

What is your PostgreSQL-centered product?

CYBERTEC offers a full product suite focused exclusively on PostgreSQL environments:

  • CYBERTEC Migrator for Oracle-to-PostgreSQL and SQL Server-to-PostgreSQL migrations.
  • Scalefield for running PostgreSQL securely on Kubernetes with automation and monitoring built-in.
  • CYPEX for developing PostgreSQL-native applications without external middleware.
  • PGEE (PostgreSQL Enterprise Edition) for production-grade PostgreSQL deployments with additional features and support options.
  • pgwatch for monitoring query performance and database health.
  • pg_timetable for PostgreSQL-native job scheduling.

This product line helps customers address deployment, migration, monitoring, and development challenges inside PostgreSQL ecosystems.

What feature in the last PostgreSQL version benefits your company most?

Features introduced in PostgreSQL 15 and 16 related to logical replication and performance improvements have had the most direct impact on our customer projects.

Specifically:

  • Support for bidirectional logical replication, enabling more advanced failover and data distribution setups.
  • Faster parallel query execution, which directly improves reporting and analytics performance.
  • Better partition pruning and query planning, allowing faster access to large datasets.

These features have allowed us to build more scalable PostgreSQL architectures for enterprise customers.

What makes your company a great place to work?

At CYBERTEC, we combine deep technical focus with a genuinely collaborative environment. Our team solves real PostgreSQL problems across industries, contributing actively to the community through blogs, talks, and open-source work.

We support flexible remote work, allowing people to grow professionally without compromising personal life. Team members manage time zones and family responsibilities in ways that work for them, backed by a company that values wellbeing.

We bring together interns, apprentices, and seasoned experts in a space where peer learning and mentorship happen naturally. Trust, openness, and respect shape how we work together.

Which PostgreSQL extension do you benefit from most, and why?

The two most widely used extensions across CYBERTEC projects are pgwatch and pg_timetable.
pgwatch allows real-time performance monitoring and health tracking for PostgreSQL instances. This is essential for our support and consulting teams to detect and resolve issues before they affect production workloads.
pg_timetable gives customers the ability to schedule maintenance and batch jobs directly inside PostgreSQL, eliminating the need for external schedulers like cron or third-party job managers.
Additionally, pg_squeeze continues to provide significant value for clients dealing with storage bloat, especially in high-transaction environments where uptime is critical.

Where is the database world heading to, and how is PostgreSQL suited for this journey?

The database industry is moving towards distributed, open, and cloud-ready architectures with real-time decision-making capabilities. Customers want scalable platforms that give them control over data location, deployment model, and cost structures.
PostgreSQL aligns well with this journey by offering flexibility to run on-premises, in the cloud, or inside containerized environments like Kubernetes. PostgreSQL’s growing extension ecosystem also enables advanced analytics, machine learning integration, and flexible indexing strategies.

CYBERTEC supports this direction by providing the tools and expertise needed to deploy PostgreSQL across a variety of infrastructure scenarios, including high-availability, multi-node, and cloud-native deployments.
